NFL Week 6 -- Three Teams Eliminated

With victories this weekend, the Falcons, Bears, and Jets were eliminated from "SuckForLuck" considerations. Atlanta took care of business against a tough Carolina Panthers team, intercepting Cam Newton twice late in the game. Michael Turner ran for 139 yards and had 2 touchdowns to finish off the Panthers.

Elsewhere, the Chicago Bears scored in the air, on the ground, by safety, and on special teams to beat down the Vikings 39-10 on Sunday Night Football. Cutler finally had time to plant his back foot and throw for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns in another solid performance. Also, the Jets defense shut down the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football to become the third team eliminated this week. New York used a 101 yard interception return from Darelle Revis early to take the lead and never look back on Monday Night.

Of course, none of these teams were in real contention to lose 2 or less games in 2011 to become in a position to draft Andrew Luck, but now they are officially eliminated. In 2003 the San Diego Chargers went 4-12 and received the first pick in the draft, since that year the worst team has finished 2-14 or worse. With these 3 eliminations, 13 teams remain in reach of the first pick of the 2012 NFL draft with 2 or fewer loses so far. Power Rankings will be updated later tonight or later in the week.
